I just got back from a beautiful vacation with my family in sunny Florida. As you can see, the weather was gorgeous!! It was in the 80’s most of the time, but our first night there the temperature dropped to about 70 (gasp!). It was the perfect opportunity for me to break out my new blush pink leather jacket by Mackage.
While perfect over my grey chevron silk tank top in Florida this time of year, it will also work well in Chicago winter temps layered over a sweater! Oh, and my new grey Givenchy Antigona Duffel that Santa brought…I cannot wait to style that beauty with this jacket too!!
2015 is right around the corner! If you’re still looking for the perfect New Year’s Eve dress, Intermix has a handful of LBDs that I love, including the one I’m wearing above by Mason by Michelle Mason. The spaghetti straps, lace back panel with hook and eye closures, lace insets at waistline, and cut out at back add a modern and delicate flare!
Merry Christmas Eve! I am so excited to be sharing my first beauty post today and I’m even more excited that it’s a festive New Year’s Eve ponytail hair how to!
My trusty hairstylist of many years, Ashley Young, recently showed me a formal way to wear my hair in a ponytail for New Year’s Eve! The only ponytail I knew how to do before this tutorial was a gym-appropriate ponytail. Not quite fancy enough for ringing in the New Year!
I hope you enjoy the following NYE ponytail hair how to. If you try it out, I would love to hear about it and see some of your pictures of the look!! Continue Reading →
I love wearing white after Labor Day and when I found this Ivory Rhinestone Dress by Bless’ed Are The Meek I knew I had to have it! My husband and I go to Columbus, OH every year to visit his relatives for Thanksgiving and there is a fabulous boutique on the Short North called Rowe Boutique, which is where I found this dress, among other great pieces – more to come on that 😉
I wore this dress to Del Frisco’s Holiday Shopping Soiree hosted by Windy City Blogger Collective earlier this month and am shamelessly going to be a repeat offender and wear it again for New Year’s Eve. It can be purchased on sale online at Revolve Clothing.
I’m a big fan of leather pants and absolutely love the details on my J Brand moto detail leather pants from Intermix. You can’t see it in these pictures but they have a zipper/button closure and four pockets (two faux frontals) which make them a little more flattering if I were to wear a shirt that’s shorter than my grey Derek Lam 10 Crosby sweater. The pewter color gives them a metallic sheen and the quilted detailing around the knees and side zips near the ankle make them more unique than the basic black pair I own (and still love nonetheless).
Speaking of details, how fun is this molded glasses wristlet by Musick?! I was lucky enough to interview the designer, Meg Musick-Makely, prior to the One of a Kind Show and Sale Chicago this year. When I met her at the show, she was so so kind and gave the handbag to me as a gift – thank you, Meg! I could not believe it and was so excited/in love that I wore it throughout the evening.
The quality of the leather and the way this bag is made truly makes it special. In order to mold the shape of the glasses into the leather, Meg wets the leather and presses a pair of sunglasses to it. “It’s almost like sculpting,” she said. She uses keys, coins and lipstick to mold leather as well. And she’s waiting for a cell phone to break so she can mold the leather with a cell phone too! Anyone have a broken phone they want to donate?!
What are some of your favorite leather pieces this season? Tell me in the comments!
I always still have some Christmas shopping to do at the last minute, so I’m a big fan of retailers who offer great shipping promotions for last minute gifts. A few of them are Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus Last Call. I spent quite a bit of time perusing these sites, and those of other retailers located in the city, to find great last minute gifts and deals out there, so I thought I would share some of them with you.
If you aren’t able to take advantage of the great shipping promotions, or just don’t want to risk it, you can always run out to the stores and shop directly from them!
